The Background of Craps

The background of Craps dates all the way back to a dice game called Hazard, which goes all the way back to Bernard de Mandeville in New Orleans in Eightteen Thirteen. Hazard is believed to be a offshoot of Azzahr, meaning 'the die' a game enjoyed by Arabs.

The game developed as it spread out from the Arab regions to France and then England. By the early eighteenth century, cultivated rules for Hazard had been developed. France adopted the English version of Hazard and is believed to have been imported to the new world by early French colonizers. In the mid-Eighteenth century, when the English beat the French in British North America, the French colonists moved to Louisiana. Dice were enjoyed on river boats, clubs and wharfs and a modernized 'US' style of Craps was developed. The game headed west and is a popular game that is participated in all over the United States and throughout the world.

The name 'Craps' is considered to be a French enunciation of the word crabs, which refers to a pair of '1s'. There are 2 basic types of Craps that are bet on-street Craps and bank Craps. Street caps, accurately called because it's competed in on the streets is where a tosser establishes a point and then tries to acquire that point. The betting is made either for or opposed to the tosser and a player has to cover the bet in order for the dice game to carry on.

In casino Craps, which is the normal game, wagered on in casinos, the betting house funds the casino game. The gamblers gamble with the casino-the casino covers all of the wagers of all of the gamblers. Craps once was a quite popular game but in the last twenty years had split itself and different games, such as poker and chemin de fer became even more well-liked. However, Craps is observing a come back in popularity once again in online casinos and in land based betting houses.
